Hola de Nosara, Costa Rica!
I've been tucked away in this little coastal town in the Guanacaste province for 8 days now, and I've fallen in love with it all over again. I was here in December 2015, 9 years ago, and although it has changed in terms of infrastructure, tourism, new hotels, restaurants, and road expansions, I still feel that authentic pulse of tranquility. It’s calm. The slower pace is where I naturally resonate, and I can feel the layers of emotions peeling back.
Guiones, the local surf beach, means waves, but it also means scripts or screenplays... it's a wonder why my creativity is flourishing. The rhythm of life here is set by the tides, howling monkeys, and the lush jungle. I feel like this little nook of the earth is the vibrant heart of nature.
A popular expression here is Pura Vida, 'pure (or simple) life.' And it’s not just a saying; it’s a cultural philosophy that reminds you to appreciate the present moment, be grateful for what you have, and approach life with kindness. Slow down, relax, and be ready for connection. I’m ready for healing.
I haven't actually ventured outside yet today, and it's already 11:11. I have been up since 4:40 and time's flying by
… I’m feeling the itch to grab my surfboard and ride the waves of this day, but I got smacked down by a nice wave surfing yesterday, and the fin collided with my toe. It’s a swollen colour of indigo now but much better than last night. Ice, rest and elevation did the trick. So… I've been hanging out on this lovely patio, soaking up the sounds of the jungle, and immersing myself in all sorts of creative endeavours. I've been painting, learning about colour theory, songwriting, slicing up mangoes, pineapples, making passionfruit drinks, and just living in this precious moment.
I started writing a new song and decided that I want to let you in on a more personal side of my creative process so I’ve been filming along the way. This is exclusively for my amazing paid subscribers like you. Your support means the world to me, and it helps create a deeper connection between us. It's like we're sharing this unique, intimate space where we can truly experience my creativity together. I hope that resonates with you.
So today, I've decided to share something special with you—a brand new song I'm currently working on.
I'll keep documenting the progress. Sometimes it takes an hour, other times days, weeks, or even months. Occasionally, it slips away, only to be forgotten for years. Hopefully not this one.
Alright, waves are calling me and since I began writing this, my toe is more of a periwinkle so that might mean… Yo lista!
Oh I almost forgot to mention… I’m studying Espanol again and loving it! One of my best childhood friends and her husband, and another friend I used to work with in Kincardine, are arriving in a few days so I’m hoping to show off just a little. Ha!!
Hope you enjoy this video of a song coming together while life happens in the background.
